READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY
Today's Reading is Isaiah 43:14-28; Psalms 57
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Isaiah 43; Psalms 57
Isaiah 43.14-28
Here we see how God is faithful regardless of how unfaithful Israel is. God here is seen as provided for the Jews but they ignore Him and did not call on Him. The wild animals and jackals honor God but not his people. They have instead burdened God with their sins.
In verse 15, God is presented as 'the Lord, uour Holy One, Israel's Creator, your King' He is encouraging the people: 'See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
Other verses to meditate and memorize:
18 "Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
25 "I, even I, am he who blots out
your transgressions, for my own sake,
and remembers your sins no more.

Isaiah 43 with Commentaries, verse by verse
Psalm 57.1-11 with Commentaries, verse by verse
This psalm is a prayer of David asking for God's help for protection of his enemies. This psalm has many links with Psalm 56. According to the NIV Study Bible, the psalm is divided up into the prayer (v. 1-5) and praise for God's saving help. I love the phrase 'Be exalted, O God above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. this occurs twice in verse 5 and in verse 11. When we need to worship God for who He is, we see Him as He is and we see ourselves in the whole scheme of things, that He is in control of our lives.
