Jeremiah 42
Jeremiah was forced into Egypt against his will. He told the army officers including Johanan to stay in Judah and rebuild and do not be afraid of king of Babylon. They did not listen.
Application:
Man will do what seems best to him and not what God wills. When will we listen to God and do the opposite of what makes sense to us. God's ways are not our ways. This is why it takes FAITH to live God's way and not huiman wisdom.
Verses to meditate on:
10 'If you stay in this land, I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I am grieved over the disaster I have inflicted on you. 11 Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands. 12 I will show you compassion so that he will have compassion on you and restore you to your land.'

Jeremiah 42 with Commentaries, verse by verse
Psalm 89, with Commentaries, verse by verse
Psalm 89.14-37 speaks about David and the covenant he made with him and his descendants. God was faithful to David and his descendants. Are we faithful to Him?
Verses to meditate on:
15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.
16 They rejoice in your name all day long;
they exult in your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength,
and by your favor you exalt our horn. [b]
