READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 28, Psalms 83
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 28 Psalms 83

Jeremiah 28
The false prophet Hananaih, with 'brazen impudence , broke the yoke that Jeremiah was wearing (28.10). Jeremiah prophesied that he would die within two months. The yoke was to symbolize submission to Babylon and announces that God will even send Judah’s captives home within two years (28:1-11)

Application:
People, in their sinfulness, do not want ot hear the truth. They will oppose you. But when you are obedient to the word of God, God is on your side. It is one thing to be persecuted by people who are downright wicked. It is another to be persecuted among your fellow peers. We need to remember that there are false prophets even among our peers. It is easy to sopt someone from a cult but difficult to discern someone within the church!

Many Christians have been martyred because they stood up for the truth. They were faithful to Jesus Christ. Reagardless, God is in control of the world situation even though it seems so hopeless to us. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and is everywhere. Let us be aware of what is going on but let us put our trust in God.

Note in Jeremiah 26.4-6, there is an IF in some of God's commandments and promises!
Verses to meditate on:
9 But the prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the LORD only if his prediction comes true."

Jeremiah 28 with Commentaries, verse by verse

Psalm 83, with Commentaries, verse by verse
This is a psalm of Asaph. Asaph is asking God to destroy the enemies of Israel. Asaph did not seek revenge, He asked God to do this. How does this fit with lovng ve your enemies? We should pray for our enemies and love them but there is a point IF they don't repent, the God will take care of them.
