Isaiah 34
Isaiah 34-35 is the conclusion of Isaiah 28-33. This is the time of judgement against all the nations of the world (v. 1-3). This speaks of the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19.11-21). Verse 4 speaks about the star..dissolved, this is characteristic of the Day of the Lord. The mention of sky...scroll..starry host will fall was mentioned in Matthew 24.29 and Revelation 6.13-14. This is somehow related to 'the great distress' mentioned in Matthew 24.21 and the Second Coming.
A pretty graphic picture of the sword of the Lord in judgement (v. 5-7) is mentioned. In verse 8-9 mention was made of Edom being judged but Edom would be a foretaste of the judgement upon the world during the Day of the Lord. Edom had oppose Israel (2Samuel 8.13-14) and rejoiced when Jerusalem was destroyed (Lamentations 4.21; Psalms 137.7). Edom would be desolate, only the desert owl, screech owl and the great owl will live in the ruins. Desert creatures such as the hyenas will live there, along with owls, falcons and other creatures. The world will be desolate just like Edom when God judges the world during this day of vengeance. Will you be ready to meet Christ as Savior instead of as judge when He comes back?
