Isaiah 50
Israel was married to God. God would send away Israel to Babylon because of her sins. God was reaching out to Israel but she did not respond. it was not that God was powerless to help her but it was because her sins have separated her from God.
This is the third of the Servant Songs. (4-11) The Servant here does not apply to the nation of Israel, rather it applies to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. The prophecy speaks about the Messiah's first coming and the suffering that He would undergo to save us from our sins. The Song spoke about the scourging that Jesus would undergo, the mocking and pain. Yet despite the sufferings Jesus was determined to deal with the pain because He put His trust in God.
Let us meditate on verse 10: Who among you fears the LORD and obeys his servant? If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God. (New Living Translation).
