READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY
Today's Reading is Isaiah 66.17-24; Psalms 71
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Isaiah 65 Psalms 71
Isaiah 66.22-23 speaks about the New Heavens and the New Earth. This relates to the Messianic Kingdom and is parallel in content to Revelation 21 Only the righteous will enter the New Heavens and the New Earth. (v. 17-18)
Isaiah ends on a joyful ending for the believer with a description of what the Kingsom will be like for them. There is a tragic ending for the unbelievers in verse 24: "And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind."

Isaiah 66 with Commentaries, verse by verse
Psalm 71 with Commentaries, verse by verse
This is a psalm for God's help in old age (verse 9, 18) when the enemies of David are threatening him when David strength is waning. The psalmist remembers God's goodness from his birth (verse 6), from his youth (verse 17) during his troubles (verse 20). God has been there in all the stages of his life and he will always be there for him.
