READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Isaiah 51.1-16; Psalms 62

Isaiah 51.1-16
There were three admonitions given to the remnant of Israel. (v. 1-3) Look back; v. 4-6, look ahead; v. 7-8 look within. Look back and see your spiritual roots, Abraham and Sarah were examples to look at. We need to look ahead optimistically at the works of God and His grace for us. We need to look within ourselves, what is right and the law written on our hearts. God's righteousness last forever while man's reproach is only here for a while, like vapor.
v. 9 Awake, awake is for the arousing of the Lord. God answered the remnant's prayer with comfort (v. 12-16). We need to remember who God is! Verses ro meditate: v. 12 I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, 13 that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the opressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the opressor?

We need to know who God is and who man is. God is the Creator, Almighty, All-knowing, All-powerful, He is everywhere.

Isaiah 51 with Commentaries, verse by verse

Psalm 62 with Commentaries, verse by verse
This psalm is a prayer of David, commiting himself to God's protection from his enemies. The verse that spoke to me today is verse 2 and 6 'He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. When you are sheltered in the Rock, the storms of lives cannot touch you because the Rock shelters you from the heavy rains and winds which come upon us like trials and tribulations.
