READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY
Today's Reading is Isaiah 52.1-12; Psalms 63
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Isaiah 52; Psalms 63
Isaiah 52.1-12
God is encouraging the remnant with words of comfort. They were to cloth themselves with strength and garments of splendor. Jersusalem will be restored and only those who are holy will enter into it (v. 3-4). They will remember and know His name though they were oppressed by the Assyrians and the Egyptians.
Verse to meiditate on:
7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
"Your God reigns!"
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him
who brings good news, good news!
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness
Our God reigns, our God reigns!
Refrain:
Our God reigns! Our God reigns!
Our God reigns! Our God reigns!
He had no stately form, He had no majesty
That we should be drawn to Him.
He was despised and we took no account of Him
Yet now He reigns with the Most High.
Refrain
It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded Him
It was our sin that brought Him down
When we like sheep had gone astray, Our Shepherd came
And on His shoulders bore our shame.
Refrain
Meek as a lamb that's led out to the slaughter-house,
Dumb as a sheep before its sheerer
His life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain
That we might be born again.
Refrain
Out from the tomb He came with grace and majesty;
He is alive, He is alive!
God loves us so, see here His hands, His feet, His side.
Yes, we know He is alive!
Refrain

Isaiah 51 with Commentaries, verse by verse
Psalm 63 with Commentaries, verse by verse
This psalm is a psalm of David, when he was in the Desert of Judah (2Samuel 15.23-28; 16.2, 14; 17:16, 29). Have you ever been in a desert without water? I love verse 1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Water is good for you, it quenches your thirst. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman at well that He could give her water, that would quench her deepest longing. We read in Psalm 42.1 about the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God
