READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 36, Psalms 87
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 36 Psalms 87

Jeremiah 36
Jeremiah spent some 23 years prophesying to the people of Judah. He was commanded from God to compile these prophesies in a scroll, so that they could be read to the people of Judah. Jeremiah was not free to speak to the people (v. 5). It took a year to write the scroll (v. 1, 9) The reading of the scroll left a profound raction on some of the princes but King Jehoiakim burnt Jeremiah scroll. God had protected Jeremiah and hid him.

Application:
Sin has its consequence. Whatever is sown will be reaped. There is mercy shown before the actual punishment. Mercy precedes judgement. Jehoiakim ignored God's warning and burnt the scroll. He reaped what he sowed.

Verses to meditate on:
26 Instead, the king commanded Jerahmeel, a son of the king, Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the LORD had hidden them.

Psalm 87, with Commentaries, verse by verse
Psalm 87 is a a psalms of the sons of Korah which is a celebration of the Zion as the city of God. The psalm mentioned how God loved Zion, the Most High will establish her. We should not only thonk about Zion then in the days of the sons of korah but what Zion would be like in the Millenial Kingdom and as the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21).

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 35
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 35

Jeremiah 35
This chapter deals with the Recabites, a tribe descended from the time of Moses (1 Chronicles 2.55; Numbers 10.29-32; Judges 1.16; 2 Kings 10. 15, 23). They were faitful in their ascetic life. Jeremiah was told to offer them wine but they refused to drink because of their ascetic life. The reaction of the Recabites to NOT drinking the wine was an object lesson for the people of Judah to learn from the Recabites. The people of Judah should be obedient to the commands of God since they were rebellious and stubborn, God will send the Babylonians to punish them.

Application: It is one thing to say that you are a follower of God and keep your vow, it is another thing to trust and obey.

Verses to meditate: Jeremiah 13 "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, 'Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?' declares the LORD.'

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 34, Psalms 86
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 34 Psalms 86

Jeremiah 34
Through Jeremiah, God is warning Zedekiah (v. 1-7) to surrender, and he would not face death but have a peaceful death.

Freedom for Slaves
v. 8-31
Zedekiah had a made a covenant with the people to free all Hebrew slaves. But later, they broke their word. Jeremiah reminded Zedekiah about the Sabbathical Year, every seven years, slaves should be freed but apparently Zedekiah and his forefather had ignored this command because of this the people of Judah will have 'freedom' to fall by the sword, plague and famine. God would make the abhorrent to the nations of the world.

Application:
Sin has its consequence. Whatever is sown will be reaped. There is mercy shown before the actual punishment. Mercy precedes judgement.

Verses to meditate on:
17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. 18 You show love to thousands but bring the punishment for the fathers' sins into the laps of their children after them. O great and powerful God, whose name is the LORD Almighty, 19 great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; you reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve.

26 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: 27 "I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 32, Psalms 85
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 32 Psalms 85

Jeremiah 32
The armies of Baby;on was beseiging Jerusalem and Jeremiah was imprisoned by Zedekiah. Jeremiah was confronted by Zedekiah about what he was prophesying about the capture of Jerusalem and Zedekiah himself. Jeremiah told him that the word of the Lord came to him for him to buy a field. The object lesson here is that one day people will return to buy kand and have houses again in Jerusalem.

Application:
God keeps His word. He will fulfill these prophecies which are predicted. The Jerusalem and Zedekiah were captured and the Jews returned under the decree of Cyrus some 70 years later.

Verses to meditate on:
17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Psalm 85, with Commentaries, verse by verse
This is a psalm of the sons of Korah. It is a prayer for the community asking for God's renewal of His mercies during this time when they were suffering. They asked for favor from God, the forgiveness of their sins, a revival again. Let us ask the Lord for this combination of love, faithfulness, righteousness and peace in our lives.

Verse to meditate on:
10: Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.'

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 31
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 31

Jeremiah 31
We continue with the Restoration of Israel (Jeremiah 30-31). Again this is a chapter of hope. The restoration involved all tha clans of Israel (v 1); the restoreed northern Kingdom (v. 2-22), the restored Southern Kingddom (v. 23-26) and Israelk and Judah together (v. 27-40).

There was also a prophecy about the slaughter of the infants from Herod when the wise men did not come back to tell him who the new king of the Jews was, that is Jesus.

Application: God knows about the future, we are very limited in our knowledge of the future. But thank God, He is all-knowing.

Verses to meditate: Jeremiah 31.15 This is what the LORD says:
"A voice is heard in Ramah,
mourning and great weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because her children are no more."

Matthew 2.16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:
18"A voice is heard in Ramah,
weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more."[g]

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 30, Psalms 84
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 30 Psalms 84

Jeremiah 30
This is a chapter of hope. One day, Israel and Judah will be restored. They will return back to Jerusalem. We have seen this fulfilled twice so far in history. Once under the decree of Cyrus and the retrun and rebuilding of the temple and the walls of Jerusalem under Zerubabbel, Ezra and Nehemiah.

The second time in 1948, when Palestine was annexed to the Jews, and in 1967, the capture of the Jerusalem by the Israeli army.

There is another time coming in the not so distant future. This will be coming of the Messiah and the establishment of the Messianic Kingdom, where Jesus will come as the Lion of Judah and as the King and Judge.

Application:
God keeps His word. He will fulfill these prophecies which are predicted. Will you be ready to meet Jesus when He comes as Judge and King?

Verses to meditate on:
9 But the prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the LORD only if his prediction comes true."

This is a psalm of Asaph. This a prayer desring to be in the house of the Lord. He would rather be in the house of the Lord than anywhere else (v, 10-11). verse 12 Should be an encouragement to us; 'blessed is the man who trusts in you.'

Verse to meditate on:
3 Even the sparrow finds a home there,
and the swallow builds her nest
and raises her young--
at a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God!

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 29
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 29

Jeremiah 29
Jeremiah was told by God to send a letter to the survuvung elders among the exiles in Babylon. The letter said to live and enjoy life, to be obedient and peacful captives in Babylon. The exiles were not to listen to the lying prophets. After seventy years, God would restore the people back to Jerusalem.

Application Babylon was the last place that the exiles wanted to be in. Sometimes we do not want to be in a situation or place or circumstances that we want to be in. However we are to go ith the flow of tj=hings rather than fight it because God had placed us there. We need to be still and know that He is God. We need to rust Him.

Verses to meditate: 10 For this is what the LORD says: "When 70 years for Babylon are complete, (J) I will attend to you and will confirm My promise concerning you to restore you to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you" (K) —[this is] the LORD's declaration—"plans for [your] welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. (L) 13 You will seek Me (M) and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you"—the LORD's declaration—"and I will restore your fortunes (N) [b] and gather you from all the nations and places where I banished you"—the LORD's declaration. "I will restore you to the place I deported you from." (O) ---(Holman Christian Standard Bible)

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 28, Psalms 83
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 28 Psalms 83

Jeremiah 28
The false prophet Hananaih, with 'brazen impudence , broke the yoke that Jeremiah was wearing (28.10). Jeremiah prophesied that he would die within two months. The yoke was to symbolize submission to Babylon and announces that God will even send Judah’s captives home within two years (28:1-11)

Application:
People, in their sinfulness, do not want ot hear the truth. They will oppose you. But when you are obedient to the word of God, God is on your side. It is one thing to be persecuted by people who are downright wicked. It is another to be persecuted among your fellow peers. We need to remember that there are false prophets even among our peers. It is easy to sopt someone from a cult but difficult to discern someone within the church!

Many Christians have been martyred because they stood up for the truth. They were faithful to Jesus Christ. Reagardless, God is in control of the world situation even though it seems so hopeless to us. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and is everywhere. Let us be aware of what is going on but let us put our trust in God.

Note in Jeremiah 26.4-6, there is an IF in some of God's commandments and promises!
Verses to meditate on:
9 But the prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the LORD only if his prediction comes true."

This is a psalm of Asaph. Asaph is asking God to destroy the enemies of Israel. Asaph did not seek revenge, He asked God to do this. How does this fit with lovng ve your enemies? We should pray for our enemies and love them but there is a point IF they don't repent, the God will take care of them.

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 27
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 27

Jeremiah 27
Jeremiah was told to make a yoke of straps and crossbars and to put it on his neck. The object lesson was that Joudah would serve Nebuchadnezzar. God had apointed Nebuchadnezzar to conquer Judah and the world. He told Zedekiah not to listen to the lying prophets that all was well, Judah would never be captured by Nebuchadnezzar.

Application People would rather hear good news not bad news. Yet sometimes the bad news are the ones which can be beneficial to us.

Verses to meditate: 4 Give them a message for their masters and say, 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Tell this to your masters: 5 With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 26, Psalms 82
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 26 Psalms 83

Jeremiah 26
Jeremiah was threatened with death. THis happened during the reign of Jehoiakim.
Verses 1-6 summarize the sermon, verses. 7-11 describes Jeremiah’s arrest and trial. Jeremiah boldly calls for his accusers to repent (verses 12-15). Some of the elders and the people resist the demands of the religious leaders that Jeremiah be executed (vv. 16-19). Micah of Moresheth also had prophesied in the days of Hezekiah, prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem but Hezekiah did not kill him.
There was another prophet named Uriah, who prophesied in the name of the Lord was and prophesied the same thing as Jeremiah did. Uriah was killed on the orders of Jehoiakim.

Application:
People, in their sinfulness, do not want ot hear the truth. Many Christians have been martyred because they stood up for the truth. They were faithful to Jesus Christ. Reagardless, God is in control of the world situation even though it seems so hopeless to us. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and is everywhere. Psalm 82, with Commentaries, verse by verse
This is a psalm of Asaph. This is a courtroom scene where rulers and judges are gathered before God to give an account of their adminstering justice. One of God's command is to take care of the pwerless such as the orphans and widows (v. 3-4). These judges and rulers are ignorant of moral issues, and will one day be themselves judged. The Judge is coming back one day and His name is Jesus will you be ready to meet him?

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 25
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 25

Jeremiah 25
This section deals Jeremiah prophesying about seventy years of captivity. This was expounded and defined by Daniel in the prophecy of the Seventy "Sevens" (Daniel 9.20-27) which speaks about history of the ages and the last days.
Seventy Weeks of Prophecy

The cup of God's wrath will be poured on the nations in the last days (Revelation 14.10).

The Cup of God's wrath

Application We need to realize that God is the God of Love but He is also the God of Rightheousness. In the last days, he will discipline the Church as a father discipline His children and He will punish people who refuse to believe in Him.

Verses to meditate: 11This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
12“But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt,” declares the LORD, “and will make it desolate forever.

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 24, Psalms 81
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 24 Psalms 81

Jeremiah 24
During the reign of Zedekiah, Jeremiah had the cision of two basket of figs/ One basket of figs was very good and the other basket were not fit to be eaten. The good figs represented the exiles from Judah whom God will keep an eye on.
The bad figs were represented by Zedekiah , his officials and the survivors of Jerusalem. He would make them abhorrent and an offense to every kingdom on the earth.

Application:
We should be aware that God will punish His people and judge those who refuse to have Him in their lives.

Verses to meditate on:
4Then the word of the LORD came to me: 5“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.£ 6My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. 7I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

Psalm 81, with Commentaries, verse by verse
This is a psalm of Asaph and is a festival song. In v. 1-5 a call to celebrate the feast. In 6-10 God heard the people and call the people to loyalty. In v. 11-16 Israel did not listen to God. Verse 10 is meaningful: I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. God has saved us from our sins (EGypt) and He is willing to bless us IF only we listen to Him.

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 23.9-40
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 23

Jeremiah 23.9-40
This section deals with lying prophets. They told the people not to listen to jeremiah. The prophets are described in v. 9-12. They continued to give false assurances that everything was going to be all right despite the fact that Jeremiah pronounced an imminent invasion and captivity by the Babylonians.

Applcation We need to look out for lying prophets inside and ourside the churches that we attend. It is easy to recognize lying prophets against Scriptures. One of the big lies today is that we will escape the Tribulation!

King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 23 Psalms 80

Jeremiah 23.1-8
jeremiah critized the shepherds of Judah for mistreating the people of Judah. The shepherds were leaders, not priests. This was spoken during Zedekiah's reign. God will raise up the Messiah who would be a just king, a good shepherd and leader. He also prophesied of the return of the Jews back to Jerusalem. We have seen the restoration of the xiles which began under Cyrus (559-530 BC), and the return in 1948, the capture of Jerusalem in 1967 in the Six Days War.

Application:
God is in control of the world situation even though it seems so hopeless to us. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and is everywhere. Let us be aware of what is going on but let us put our trust in God.

Verses to meditate on:
5 "The days are coming," declares the LORD,
"when I will raise up to David [a] a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.

6 In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The LORD Our Righteousness.

Psalm 80, with Commentaries, verse by verse
This is a psalm of Asaph and is a prayer for God's restoration on when she has been ravaged by a foreign nation, probably Assyria. (2Kings 17.1-6) The phrase 'Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! occurs three times v. 3, 7 and 19. We too need God's hand in our lives to restore us so that our sins may be forgiven and our fellowship restores with Him.

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 22
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 22

Jeremiah 22
Jeremiah was rold by God to pronounce judgement against the evil kings of Judah. Jehoiakim was the king at this time. he was a wicked and cruel king. His life is mentioned in 2 Kings 23.36-24.6; 2 Chronicles 36.5-8 Jehoiakim had a miserable death (v. 18-19)

The other evil king was Shallum (Jehoahaz) (v. 11)
God had a curse on Jehoiachin, son of Jehoiakim, he would be childless (v. 30). Childless here meant that although Jeconiah had seven children, none of his ancestors would be descendant of the Messiah.

Applcation It does not matter what your position in life is. God will judge each one of us with regards how we live our lives, whether we accept or reject Christ, how we treat our fellow man.

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 21, Psalms 79
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 21 Psalms 79

Jeremiah 21
Zedekiah sent for jeremiah to inquire of the Lord because Nebuchadnezzar was attacking them. The Lord rejected Zedekiah because he was an evil king. He told Zedekiah that they should surrender to Babylon, their lives would be spared. God had rejected Zedekiah and the people of Jerusalem.

Application:
It is hard to understand God's ways, to humble oneself and to do somtehing that would be so strange and unheard of, this is how we choose life. God's way's is paradoxical. To gain your life, you have to lose it. Let us learn from Zedekiah and the people of Jerusalem, NOT to make the mistake the made because they chose what they thought made sense (from a human point of view).

Verses to meditate on:
8 "Furthermore, tell the people, 'This is what the LORD says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death. 9 Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; he will escape with his life. 10 I have determined to do this city harm and not good, declares the LORD. It will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will destroy it with fire.'

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 20
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 20

Jeremiah 20
Jeremiah was told by God not to go to the potter's house and there he would get a message to give the people of Jerusalem Jeremiah 18-20.18.
When Pashur the priest heard Jermiah prophesying the object lessons from the potter's hiouse, he had him flogged and put in stocks. He propheied to Pashur that he would be a terror to himself and other people when the Babylonians came to capture Jerusalem.

Jeremiah's complaint to God
Jeremiah wanted to give up but he could not, he was influenced by 'divine compulsion to carry on.

Verse to meditate on:
8 Whenever I speak, I cry out
proclaiming violence and destruction.
So the word of the LORD has brought me
insult and reproach all day long.

9 But if I say, "I will not mention him
or speak any more in his name,"
his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
indeed, I cannot.

Applcation We may face persecution when we speak the Word of God. We will be despised but we should not give up. Like Jeremiah we are compelled with God's word, because His word is like fire in our bones. Let us not give up but stand firm.

READING LIST FOR POETRY AND PROPHECY

Today's Reading is Jeremiah 19, Psalms 78.65-72
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 19 Psalms 78

Jeremiah 19
There were object lessons to be learnt at the potter's house (Jeremiah 18-20.18). In Jeremiah 18, the clay was moist and pliable, and therefore it could be easily molded by the potter. In Jeremiah 19, the clay was hard and if unusable by the owner could be destroyed. Jeremiah was told to go and buy a clay jar from the potter. He was then to give a sermon and then break the pot.

Application:
What about us are we like the clay which is soft and pliable that the Potter (the Holy Spirit) could mold us or are we hard like the people of Jerusalem who were facing judgement.

Verses to meditate on:
10 "Then break the jar while those who go with you are watching, 11 and say to them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter's jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room. 12 This is what I will do to this place and to those who live here, declares the LORD. I will make this city like Topheth.

Check out these words from a well-known hymn:

382. Have Thine Own Way, Lord
Text: Adelaide A. Pollard, 1862-1934
Music: George C. Stebbins, 1846-1945
Tune: ADELAIDE, Meter: 54.54 D
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after thy will,
while I am waiting, yielded and still.

2. Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Search me and try me, Savior today!
Wash me just now, Lord, wash me just now,
as in thy presence humbly I bow.

3. Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me I pray!
Power, all power, surely is thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

4. Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!

Psalm 78:65-72
It is good to see some positive points in this psalm, namely God is victorious over His enemies, He acted in His own wisdom and chose for Himself the tribe of Judah over Joseph and Ephraim,. The second point is He chose David who was a shepherd boy to be the shepherd of His people. It should be comforting for us to know that God is in contol of the world, our churches, families and lives.

Sermon on Jeremiah 18

Jeremiah's enemies plotted against him again! (v. 18-23) Jeremiah complains again to God.

Verse to meditate on:
4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me: 6 "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

Jeremiah 17
Jeremiah used the illustration of sin as an iron tool which is used as an engraving instrument written on the hearts of the people of Jerusalem.
Do we really understand what our sinful nature really is?

Application:
The longer you have become a Christian, the more you realize how sinful your nature is and how much God's grace means to you.

Verses to meditate on:
5This is what the LORD says:
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength

9 The heart is deceitful above all things

Psalm 78:56-64
Is a maskil of Asaph. Verses 56-64 is che desrciption about rebellion from the Isralites in the promised land. This is seen frequently seen in the book of Judges. We see that when the people rejected God, He turned his back on them and allowed the inhabitants of the land to attack them. We, hopefully, should learn from other people's mistakes. We should look at what God did to the Israelites and learn how God blessed them when they were obedient and caused adversity on them, when they sinned.

Jeremiah 16
Jeremiah was told by God not to marrt ot have children. He was told not to enter a house that was in mourning or in feasting. The object lesson of this was to warn the people of Jerusallem of the coming day of disaster coming on them from the Babylonians. How would you like to have this kind of ministry where no one listened?

Verse to meditate on:

10 "When you tell these people all this and they ask you, 'Why has the LORD decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the LORD our God?' 11 then say to them, 'It is because your fathers forsook me,' declares the LORD, 'and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me and did not keep my law. 12 But you have behaved more wickedly than your fathers. See how each of you is following the stubbornness of his evil heart instead of obeying me. 13 So I will throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.'

King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links:Jeremiah 15 Psalms 78

Jeremiah 15
we continue tio talk about what Jeremiah had to say about the future of Babylon: Drought, famine and the sword. (14.1-15.21)

The word of God can be either Good News or bad news. None of us wants to hear about judgement. This was even true for the people of Jerusalem. Jeremiah told the people that God's heart would not go out to the people. There would be four kinds of destroyers coming to Jerusalem. The news was grim.

Application:
A day will be coming soon as well, when the Lord returns, it will be judgement. The book of Revelation as well as the books of prophecy are very grim about judgement. The experences that we are about to experience will be horrific. Sptember 11 will be a piece of cake compared to what will happen to us. We need to be ready to meet God.

Verses to meditate on:
15 You understand, O LORD;
remember me and care for me.
Avenge me on my persecutors.
You are long-suffering—do not take me away;
think of how I suffer reproach for your sake.

16 When your words came, I ate them;
they were my joy and my heart's delight,
for I bear your name,
O LORD God Almighty.
